Has anyone applied to UHV Second Degree BSN program for Spring 2012?

Hello all. I just wanted to let anyone know who is still waiting to hear back that I declined my offer and hopefully someone else will have the opportunity to go this Spring. Best of luck!

Thanks, I'm still waiting

@ekanyanwutaku ,

i'm still waiting too. :anbd:

you asked earlier why i don't expect an acceptance...i just figured that if i was going to be accepted i would have received one already. i'm still hoping, so you never know. i believe that the acceptance letters/email said that they had to decline by today, so i would imagine that we would know for sure by tomorrow or friday. cross your fingers.

Hi, I was accepted I am looking forward to joining this accomplished group. As I understand, the median gpa of students entering into this program is around 3.5. The program is demanding and several students drop out during the year. Is there some way of finding out what is the median gpa of students when they graduate from the UHV nursing program? My email is [email protected] Thanks everyone

Quick Question about drug testing....

I paid online on Sunday but still haven't been contacted (email or phone). How long did you all have to wait for them to contact you? Also how did they contact you, email or phone?

Thanks!

They will contact you by email, when they are good and ready. It is random, so it could be today, tomorrow or whenever they want you to test.

Hey CareAngel, what was your TEAS score? You can call me at 202-288-0168 and tell me. I am just wondering because my score was low and others in my group who have a low TEAS score didn't get an acceptance email either.

Hi everyone!

Let's see if I can help answer any questions.

In regards to the GPA, yes I do believe the median GPA was around 3.5 for those of us who were accepted. I don't have any offical data or anything, but I think the majority of us who are graduating, will be graduating with GPA's of 3.4 and above.

Nursing school is hard, and it's hard to stay in. We started out with 62 students, and 45 are graduating. 2 dropped out within the first month, because they found this just wasn't for them, and that's okay. This program is extremely fast and challenging, some just find that a traditional program suits them better.

You want to strive for the best grades possible. Anything below a 75 is failing, and it just takes a final grade of a 74 in one class to end your journey with this program. All the semesters are equally difficult, and we even lost people with 6 weeks left till graduation. They are going to be very tough on you guys. It's part of the whole experience. They want to see who truly wants this, and as bad as it sounds, weed people out. I'm not trying to scare you guys, instead trying to paint a very realistic view of what nursing school is. I knew it was going to be difficult and i knew what i signed up for, but I was still caught a little off guard when I first started. I quickly realized they were testing me to see how bad I wanted this. I wanted this BAD, so I stuck it out, studied my heart out, and showed them what I could do. It paid off cause I graduate tomorrow alongside 44 other amazing people who went through the same exact experience. Thousands of nurses have come before you, if we can do it, so can you. Nursing school is just very difficult. Ask any nurse, and they will tell you the same. It's hard because, you have real lives at stake. So, they don't just torture you for fun, trust me.

Drug testing, I remember waiting 4 or 5 days before they contacted me by e-mail. They gave me a few days notice. I don't think you can reschedule since they do give you the couple to few day notice. You don't need an appointment. My advice go first thing in the morni g before it gets busy. I did, and I was in-and-out in 15 min.

TEAS scoring. The nice thing about UHV is that they don't have an exact set score you have to make. All aspects of the candidate are taken into consideration. Everything to your GPA, interview, and TEAS. You are more than just a standardized test, and are viewed as such. Unfortunatly, not everyone who interviewed can be accepted. That's the down side. However, if any of you are in that position. Don't get discouraged. It is a very difficult decision for them. They don't like to cut anyone. They would honestly take everyone if they could. My advice is, don't give up yet. There may be spots opening up, and you may be the very next name on the list to be selected. Hang in there guys! You're gonna be great!

Hello,

Question for all the current students, I keep hearing EVERYONE say that the program is hard. What exactly makes it difficult? Is it the content? The amount of content? The number of classes? Do you gave figure it out on your own?

I'm try mentally prepare for this journey and I want to know what some of the hardest challenges may be. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Congratulations to the second degree bsn class of 2011!!!!!!!

SELLING BOOKS. THESE WON'T LAST. WILL GIVE YOU THE BEST PRICE. PRIVATE MESSAGE ME.

@shermel2. The program is very difficult and fast paced. the amount of materials covered within a short window is what makes it difficult. exams are challenging because of the materials covered(e.g. 15 - 20 chapters for a 50 question test) on top of written assignments, group presentations, and clinicals. It is doable as applejacks36 described.

Are you going to UT? I have an admission to do BSN generic even though I have a first degree, do you have an idea of what the hours are like?
