Tx State Fall 2013

U.S.A. Texas

Published

Just wondering if anyone else is applying for the Fall 2013 semester at Texas State in Round Rock, and/or has any detailed info as far as their selection process goes? I don't see many threads on Tx State here AT ALL, but I know there's gotta be at least few other applicants on here somewhere! Anyway, I've heard that they use some sort of point system but not sure how the different admission criteria are weighted or what the selection process entails. Any info would be greatly appreciated!

@Sarah- your stats are great, and better than the averages they accepted last year.. I would think you'd likely be accepted!

Sounds like you have a solid application thats for sure! a 93 on the TEAS-V, that is the highest I've heard of! I wish I would have stuck with my original Microbiology major in undergrad, but I switched to Psychology and we only needed Chem 1. Oh well!

I just wish I knew how much they looked at each aspect of the application. I only have an average GPA, I think around a 3.3. I scored well on the TEAS (not quite as high as you, Sarah!) and feel really strongly about my writing capabilities, so it really just depends on which parts receive the most consideration.

I am really hoping to get in this cycle because then I would have a year of working experience under my belt before we need to move out of Austin for my fiance's post-doc (who knows where that will be!)

Thank you very much!! I'm just worried about all the people who have 4.0's!!!! :nailbiting: lol

Yeah I only have about a 3.2 or so, and that's a bit below the average. But I scored an 88.7 on the TEASV with a 96.7% in math and a 91.7% in science so I'm hoping that may work in my favor. Not sure if GPA or test scores weigh heavier at Texas State....

Those are all great stats as well! I would think they kind of all weigh into the acceptance about the same. Most schools look at your admissions app. as a whole and not based on any one specific thing. :)

only one month left to wait! if y'all get in are you planning on working as well as going to school? or just be a full-time student?

I'm just going to concentrate on school. Financially it will be a little bit of a stretch, but I'm so blessed to be in a position where I'm even able to do that. I figure pinching my pennies for a couple of years is a sacrifice worth making, because this is what I've always wanted to do.

I applied to Texas State for their Fall 2013 program and am biting my fingernails everyday to hear if I got in! I am also in Austin, and with a shortage of programs in the city, I am counting on Texas State!

Me too.... relocating is just not an option for me unfortunately. And it's really a great program. I toured the facility after I attended an info session last year, and would love to earn my nursing degree there. Hopefully we have less than a month of waiting left!!

I'll probably just go to school as well and maybe just try to find a job that's like two nights a week. I've worked and saved all through my undergrad, and am also fortunate enough to have the support of my parents and a few remaining scholarships! :) I've actually never been justtttt in college and not also working, so I may have to work a little just to feel like normal!

Yeah I've worked full time the majority of my college career...But I'm a single mom to a beautiful little girl and between her, working full time, and going to school - something had to give! So I took a leap of faith last June, and left my job of 12 years to pursue this endeavor full time. I just felt I couldn't dedicate the time and attention that I needed to otherwise...thank goodness for the support of my family, grants, and scholarships :)

That's amazing!!! :) I hope it all works out for the best for you and your family! I cannot wait to hear back from the school. It's sooo nerve-wrecking waiting!
