TWU Spring 2010

Is anyone out there applying to TWU for the Spring of 2010? Just thought that I would start a group for all of us hopefuls so we could share information and have a way to communicate with each other.

Have you taken your HESI A2 yet? Have you taken all of your pre-reqs? If not, what do you have left to take?

I have taken all of my pre-reqs, and I just took my HESI yesterday. I didn't think it was bad at all, but I prepared for it for about 3 weeks.

If you haven't noticed, TWU has made some slight changes that I think some people will not be happy with. They are taking into consideration the first grade made at pre-req attempts for several of the classes like A&P, micro, and another class. What do you think of this? I wonder how it will change the applicants chances of getting in?

Ali523 if you get in to UT houston will you be going there and why?? I'm just trying to make a decision of where to go to, well that's if I get into UT too. I know UT's program is four consecutive semesters, which is a good thing that way we finish faster but other than that, I don't know... I have heard UT's program is very challenging but I guess it's different for everyone. Have you heard any stories about either program?

as of now i don't know which i would choose. if you read a few previous pages and the ut thread there are some people who compare things

Oh I was going to say, for those of you still waiting to hear from TWU, I know a girl that just got an acceptance email today from the Houston campus! It doesn't sound like they're really doing an official waitlist (where they email people and tell them)...they're just sending an acceptance email when a spot opens.

does anybody know if TWU will send your information packet as soon as they receive your confirmation of acceptance? or will they wait until after the ninth and send them all out at once?

When talking to the Denton office yesterday, I understood the packets will be sent out after the 9th when they have there final list. Schedules will be determined closer to start dates-I would probably direct that question to the person they reference on our letters with regards to the packets.

If you look at the sample plan for junior first semester on the TWU website, it tells what classes we will be taking. It looks like its Concepts, Assessment, Pharm and Patho. Then you can log in to Pioneer Portal and look at the class schedule for spring to see what class times are offered. There aren't too many options in terms of lecture/lab, but the clinical portions have multiple options. Both Concepts and Assessment have clinicals. It looks as though we will be in either class or clinicals approx. 20 hrs. per week.

quick question...i didn't actually realized this until the TWU Houston open house, but the degree from UTHSC is a BSN, and the degree from TWU is a BS with a major in nursing. my understanding is it doesn't matter which one you receive, it won't make a difference in regards to job offers or grad school. but has anybody ever heard or know of any reason (no matter how off-the-wall or unlikely) why one or the other could possibly pose any kind of problem?

]Hey guys! My name is Mayra and I "googled" TWU Spring 2010 and this forum popped up. LOL. I received my acceptance letter on 10/30/09 to the Dallas Center also and I am super excited as many of you are! I wish I would've known about being able to take Patho while waiting to get accepted. I would have knocked that class out of the way. Anyways, I was at UTA taking pre-reqs for their program but as soon as I found out I got into TWU, I dropped out of UTA because the classes I was taking (CHEM 1451 & Concepts of Professional Nursing) will not transfer to TWU. I already took a CHEM that transferred...and the concepts class is not the same as the one we will be taking at TWU (I think---because concepts at UTA was a 2 credit course and TWU's is a 5 credit course). Plus, now I can work full-time until January 18th..then after that I think I'm gonna become a bartender ..just work weekends and focus on school during the week. What do ya'll think?
