TWU Fall 2013 Applicants

U.S.A. Texas

Published

Hello everyone!

I am starting this thread... a year early. That is how much I want to be accepted into the Fall 2013 BSN program at TWU in Dallas. I am taking my TEAS on August 30 so that if I have to, I can take it again the following application period (after September 1). I have finished my prerequisites (last week of Summer AP2 right now, hurray).

I hope other people see this forum so that we can all talk and encourage each other about getting into the program (and be stressed out together)! Seriously hoping that this next year flies by! I Look forward to get to know other hopefuls!

Hi guys, is anyone here applying with 1/4 A's on first attempt science classes? Which are, just to be sure, microbiology, a&p I and II and statistics, correct?

I've seen 1/4 A's and 2/4 A's and 3/4 A's with the words "first attempt" next to them, and at the risk of sounding dumb, I have no idea what that means. I'd be happy to answer your question if you can explain that! :)

First attempt A's are a preference towards you getting into the program. If you get 4/4 first attempt A's on A&P 1&2, Micro, and Statistics then you get like preference points or however they calculate. Either way, it's a preference like having a previous Bachelor's degree, or taking a certain number of prerequisite classes at TWU.

It's not like you can't get in without preference points for first attempt A's. It all depends on your GPA and TEAS V scores. So if you have like 1/4 A's and a really high GPA like a 3.9 and a 90 on TEAS V well then...

I like to read through the past couple years worth of threads that previous TWU nursing students have done. It answers a lot of questions you might have.

I just have read a lot of students that get accepted usually have 3/4 or 4/4 first attempts and supposably that weighs more on whether you get in or not and well I only have 1/4 so I just want to know If its web possible to get accepted with 1/4, If not then y even apply :(

I started hunting through previous threads when I didn't see an answer right away - thanks! I get it now. Hm. Based on that, I don't know. I don't remember what I got in either my undergraduate or my graduate stats classes. For A&P 1&2, and Micro, I do have first attempt A's.

@CinthiaD92 - I'd try anyway, if it were me. You never know unless you try.

Why don't you just see an advisor? It's not worth it to stress over your question when you could have it answered by an advisor who will tell you where you stand based on this past semester's applicant pool.

Or email. They were super responsive when I asked about the classes that I needed to count towards my prereqs from my previous degrees.

Yep, either/or, but I find it easier to see them in person they can look at all of your information in front of them on the computer and make sure that you have everything done so you are 100% good to apply!

Worth the try and they can get you in pretty quickly too.

Thanks guys, I will do that, it's just not the same when an advisor tells you than someone who went through that experience.

how about Chem? don't they take those A's too???

I believe it's only micro, statistics, a &p I and II. Chem would only count towards ur gpa.
