TWU Fall 2013 Applicants

U.S.A. Texas

Published

Hello everyone!

I am starting this thread... a year early. That is how much I want to be accepted into the Fall 2013 BSN program at TWU in Dallas. I am taking my TEAS on August 30 so that if I have to, I can take it again the following application period (after September 1). I have finished my prerequisites (last week of Summer AP2 right now, hurray).

I hope other people see this forum so that we can all talk and encourage each other about getting into the program (and be stressed out together)! Seriously hoping that this next year flies by! I Look forward to get to know other hopefuls!

I'm nervous how that works out, if my transcript hasn't been received but I'm assuming they will verify the grades I've entered manually with the transcripts.

If you're concerned with how it works, visiting College of Nursing Home - TWU College of Nursing - Texas Woman's University wouldn't hurt. It tells you what to do step by and step and how to do it.

I think at Houston it is only offered online (2nd degree students) and so you must have permission. Call your adviser and ask.

Thank you. That makes sense though. I will try to contact them to make sure.

What book/study guide would you recommend?

I would just get the ATI study manual. It worked great for me and had practice tests that were just like the actual TEAS test. You can time yourself and go through each section and score yourself. My results were extremely close to my score on the actual test. I think I did two practice tests at the end and I scored an 88% and a 93%, and i ended up getting a 91% on the real thing.

I don't think buying multiple study guides is necessarily beneficial. Just save your money and buy the ATI study manual.

Thank you!!! I bought multiple study guides but that eases the stress!

Your welcome! I know I was really stressed about it and I was thankful for any helpful tips I could get. :) When is everyone taking their TEAS V test?

Hi guys quick question can anyone explain how to use the gpa calculator I figured the part to put ur grade but then what do u do so it calculates the gpa?

I'm not quite sure I understand your question... Once you put in your grades in the appropriate spots on the excel sheet it automatically calculates your grades. Just make sure you put it in the correct spot (if you have taken the course at TWU put it in the correct category) if you haven't taken the course at TWU put it in the correct spot. Then wham, bam, thank you ma'am. It calculates your GPA for you :) Nice and easy.

I took the TEAS yesterday, and I was totally not expecting to see a score until Thursday.

I just got a confirmation via email that my scores have already been sent to TWU.

...

I'm in shock - I got a 94 overall. I used the ATI manual to study and couldn't get over an 88 and never over a 75 on the Science section.

Hope this means I have a pretty good shot. :wideyed:

Wow, great job on the TEAS! You have a great chance to get accepted! Which campus are you applying?

Thanks! I'm applying to the weekend/evening program which is only at the Dallas campus. Crossing my fingers!

Hi Nanerz13! I am looking into TWU in the future.... I have pre-reqs to work on since my degree was not a science degree. Do you know if TWU recommended taking pre-reqs with them to raise the student's chances of being accepted into their program?

You get preference points added if you take a certain number of hours with them. However, if you're looking to save money/smaller classes, community college works great. I think a lot of the applicants opt to do that, myself included.
