Texas Nursing Jurisprudence Examination

U.S.A. Texas

Updated:   Published

I'm eligible to take the NJE for Texas and am considering enrolling in the prep course. Did anyone who has taken the exam complete the course? Did you find it helpful? Has anyone taken the exam w/o taking the prep course?? was the exam as intense as the NCLEX-RN?? Replies will be most appreciated.

Do not waste your money and take the prep course! Overall the jurisprudence exam is elementary and is mostly common sense. It is also an "open note," so you can utilize the TXBON while you take the exam. There were some things that I had trouble searching for and you have to get a little creative with the search words, but other than that it was very easy ?

Take the exam with the book open to 217.11 and have the TxBon website available and Google. That helped me a lot. If you don't know the answer, do like you would for the NCLEX, eliminate what you know isn't right, and guess for the last two options you have left. But the test is just common sense.

Yes, please don't waste your money on the prep class. You have PLENTY of time to take the exam, and it is all open-book; the questions are self-explanatory, and it even tells you where to look on the BON website for the answers. You will do fine!

Hi all,

I have an active RN license in Florida and now live in Texas. I have not worked for over four years (and passed my NCLEX in 2000) and must take the NJE. I read the other answers and wondered if they still apply. They seem to be from several years ago. Should I take the prep course (especially since it's been so long since I've worked)? Also, once I take the approach and pass (hopefully), I think I must also have 80 hours in the field. Has anyone else gone through this process? Do I do the hours in the hospital once I'm hired? Do I have to do them elsewhere? What if I don't plan to go back to the hospital and want to work as a school nurse? Where do I do the 80 hours? I am so confused! Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. I called the Texas BON, and they weren't helpful; they kept referring me back to the website. Thanks, everyone!

Hi! Please, someone who took the NCLEX in Texas more than once, help me! I am taking the NCLEX for the 2nd time, and it's over a year since ii took it the last time. I wondered if I must take the nursing jurisprudence and do the fingerprint again. I have already paid the $200 at Pearson and the $125 at BON. Thanks for your help in advance!

Hello everyone!! I'm preparing for my Nursing Jurisprudence exam in Texas. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. I'm over-stressed as I'm trying to revive my nursing profession. Im going through a lot of processing for the NCLEX examination to BON. Is there anyone who is taking their NCLEX exam soon here in Texas? Thank you so much. I will be having my Fingerprinting for a criminal background check on Wednesday. Have a nice day to all!!

TNPA = Texas Nurse Practice Act.

Hello,

Took the Nursing Jurisprudence exam now. How many days will the results be shown in the " items required" for the Endorsement application?

I'm about to take the jurisprudence exam. Can someone give me an example of the questions?
