Tarrant County Community College Students

Hello,

Just wanted to know is anyone on the board attending Tarrant County Community College ADN Program?, If so, what is it like? Instructors and classes? I'm asking because I'm thinking about applying there for the Spring 2005.

Oh, I would love to know all this too. I am going to TCC right now. I'm taking my prerequisites for the BSN program at UTA. I plan on applying to UTA and the Adventist university when I'm done, but I'm also thinking about TCC. I want my BSN but if I don't get into the nursing schools I want I'll need a back up plan. What I really want to know is if you are garenteed all your nursing classes after you are admitted. I have heard that some ADN programs have a lottery system to see who gets in the classes, and if your unlucky you might be working on you ADN for a year of more longer than you should just because the classes you needed were full.

I go to TCC south now and am pretty mad because they canceled the LVN to RN program. Now I hear they are starting a new program in Jan (TCC South nursing program told me this) I dont know if it will effect the traditional program or not it is suppose to be some type of challange program. I've been taking summer CDI classes; Tex Gov and US Gov. I can't wait until I start back in the fall and can physically go to class. I really don't like the CDI/ITV classes. I had to take them though because my son isn't in school. I need to stay home with him and the CDI/ITV classes let me do that.

I'm taking Micro in the fall with Johnson, do you know if he/she is a good teather? Oh, I should say that I go to the south campus. What about composition 2, how many papers do you have to write for the course? I took composition 1 ten years ago, so I'm really nervouse about composition 2. I'm really rusty as far as writing and I think the only reason I did good in composition 1 was because I had an easy teacher.

So can I get an appointment to talk to the people in the nursing department at TCC? Do they have advisors over their that anyone can talk to? Do they have an info packet they give out since the campus catalog says very little about the program? I plan on visiting both the UTA and SWAU nursing department in the fall. I want to meet with an advisor to talk about everything from prerequisites to admission standards.

I am taking Johnson right now for micro, tomm is my last day. She is pretty messed up gives alot of inacurrate information,I know this because I am a nurse but I never say anything. Dr Johnson is a vet and teaches micro as if you were going to be a vet. You can buy her notes at kinko's in arlington I20 or you can go to the hulen kinkos and buy DeAnglis notes (they are the same ) for half the price. DeAnglis puts more per page than Johnson does. YOU WILL NEED THESE NOTES IN ORDER TO PASS. I paid 20.00 for the notes and put them in a three ring binder. She gives alot of notes as well . Lab was boring in the begining but then it all came together for me. I think the whole goal in micro with all the experiments you do is getting you ready for your unknown. Which is the last thing you do ,identifying two mixed together organisms. Also she fails A LOT to explain in detail how to do something. I kinda got the impression she thinks just by reading the material we should be able to figure it out. It just dont work like that with me. This was a hard class but I think Ill get out with a B. I take all of my classes online with the exception of micro and chem . A&P I &II were online at northwest campus with Foote. I love online classes I have 5 kids and cant go all the time to class. English, I took Mata I love her she is very fair. Well Im in Chem with Stratton summer II, and that's all folks IM DONE.............Oh I plan on applying to McLennan county LVN to RN program in the fall, then Weatherford transition program in the spring (if I dont get in McLennan county) :roll :roll :roll :roll :roll

Ugh I got a bad teacher. I really wanted to take chem this fall but I couldn't because the chem classes ran past the time I have to go pick up my son from school. His school has an after school program but since it is his first year going all day I didn't want him there even longer. I'm sure I will have to do the after school care next spring since all the science classes are so long.

If you want an "A" take Haley. I think that is how you spell her name, her first name is cindy. I had her for college algebra and she was wonderful. I am taking her again this fall for statistics. She explains everything so well, gives great notes, and reviews a lot. She is very nice and always willing to help you in the lab if you need it. I took the class at the south campus. I'm not sure if that is the only campus she teaches at, I know some teachers teach at more than one location.

I took Gustafasin(SP?) for intermediate algebra. He was OK, but left you confused sometimes because he skipped over important details. I thought he was very fair with his grading and he was a nice guy.

This is the last class I need for DCCCD and I want to be positive I'm gettina an "A"! So, If it is an instructor at Tarrant Co that someone can refer me too, I'm there!

Lastly, I thought Weatherford only accepted in the Fall do they have a Spring admission too?
