STUDENT LOANS

U.S.A. Texas

Hey everyone-

So here it is in a nutshell. I am in my second semester of nursing school and just got a job as a PCT! Wohoo! I have a small scholarship and grant for fall 2010. I have taken out federal student loans as well for last spring and this summer. My husband just lost his job and our house payment is due and I am freaking out! I am looking into ways to get more student loan money. I know that loans are not the best route but we are in survival mode. I have already applied for Fall loans with my school and I am waiting to hear. The problem is I can't wait until Fall to get funds. Does anyone have any ideas on loans that aren't extremely high in interest that I can apply for and get the funds quickly? Thanks a ton!

You can get private loans, but you have to be actually enrolled currently to get them I believe. Meaning - they won't pay until Fall, if you are able to get them. All you can do is apply. Try calling your bank and seeing what your options are. good luck!

Some banks and local credit unions also offer personal loans to people with decent credit and current employment. Although your spouse is unemployed, you now have a job. I remember obtaining a personal loan of more than $4,000 through a credit union with a fixed interest rate of about 7 percent several years ago. It is worth looking into. Good luck to you and your family!
