St. Philips College 2013 Fall LVN Program...

U.S.A. Texas

Published

I'm turning in my application for the Fall 2013 LVN Program today. Has anyone applied and gotten in? How is it? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I added up all the books for new ones. It will cost $1156 for the books. This does not include the Growth and development book, A&P book, medical dictionary, or nurses manual. I'm thinking about renting and buying used to save money.

Oh ok thanks! I'm gonna rent some books & buy others used that require multiple classes for them. Peggy said we buy the books per semester. So I'll just buy them per semester as needed. What about you?

Yeah I'm just going to buy them per semester as well. I'm finally done with my fingerprints and my canvas! :) I'm just a little confused about the Blue Card peggy emailed us about. Are we supposed to receive it in the mail after we did our fingerprints? the man at the identigo office didn't say anything about it, so I just want to make sure.

I went & got my fingerprints done today. The guy told me I would receive the blue card in the mail within 7-10 business days.

Hmm Peggy said about 4-6 weeks for the blue card to receive in the mail? I guess we will see.

Do y'all know exactly what books we need for the first semester?

:nurse: The guy told me 7-10 business days. So idk. Maybe it depends on how busy there are?

Level I

VNSG 1420 Anatomy & Physiology for Allied Health

(16 week course)

VNSG 1304 Foundations of Nursing

(16 week course)

VNSG 1133 Growth and Development

(8 week course in flex I)

VNSG 1116 Nutrition

(8 week course in flex II)

VNSG 1227 Essentials of Medication Administration

(8 week course in flex I; this course is a pre-requisite to pharmacology)

VNSG 1331 Pharmacology

(8 week course in flex II; VNSG1227 is a pre-requisite to pharmacology)

VNSG 1423 Basic Nursing Skills

(8 week course in flex I; this course is a pre-requisite to clinical)

VNSG 1160 Clinical to VNSG 1323

(8 week course in flex II; VNSG1423 is a pre-requisite to clinical)

According to the LVN section on the St. Philip's website, these are the classes that we are supposed to take the first semester, I guess just take away the classes you already have like A&P and Nutrition. Just match up the name of the books on our book list and these classes.

Has anyone received their blue card yet?

I got mine done on the 19th but haven't received the blue card yet.

I'm not expecting mine until next Wednesday if it takes 7-10 business days like the guy at the fingerprinting place said.

Have you guys bought your clinical scrubs yet? I went to the bookstore the other day and went ahead and bought them instead of ordering them during orientation.
