Published

Hello to everyone in Houston Texas!

Im a young nurse being recruited to Houston...I've never been there but im trying to decide where to live and which hospital to work at. Please help

Option A: Live (rent) in Sugar Land and work in the Southwest area (beechnut)

Option B: Live (rent) in Woodland area and work there as well

Only thing is, im looking to go back to school and i noticed all the universities are in the downtown area....What the commute time? Nurse Pay? Any major working issues?

THANKS:typing

I live in Sugar Land and in my opinion, you are waaaay too young to move down here :nuke: What I mean is, if I were young and didn't have children, there would be NO WAY I would live here. If you are going to move to Houston you need to live closer to downtown! That's where all the nightlife is and that's where you'll meet a whole bunch of people your own age. I work in the Med Center at Memorial Hermann and I love it. You mention that you want to go back to school too....check out Hermann's loan repayment. If I recall correctly it's something like $7500 PER SEMESTER! You could go to grad school and it would be virtually free. There are two nurses on my unit that are working on their MSNs. Also, if you work in the Med Center you are close to several nursing schools so you could work and then go to class if need be. Sorry, but I can't help with pay for new nurses because I moved here and was hired with experience.
