Hi, I know there is a TX broad of nursing website that I can go to but I am still confuse about the license application process.

I am going to graduate from MN RN program in 2005 May. I want to know if I should request to take the Texas NCLEX in Minnesota or do I have to take the MN NCLEX and then have my license endorsement to TX license?

What is the easier way to do?

Thanks!

There is no such thing as a MN NCLEX. It is a national exam. So there is no such thing as a Texas NCLEX. You apply only to Pearson-Vue and can take the exam any where in the world that has one of their testing centers.

If you are definite about moving to Texas, then just apply to their Board of Nursing for licensure. You will be able to write the exam in MN if you desire, but you will save yourself all of the extra licensing fees.

It is easier to take the exam in the state from which you graduated nursing school. Then complete paperwork found on Texas BNE site to get licensed in TX. I have helped students from neighboring states who moved here after graduation but before taking NCLEX. Licensure can be delayed if all the paperwork is not completed PERFECTLY and it is harder to do that when you are hundreds of miles away from the nursing school. Welcome to Texas. What city are you moving to?

So are you saying that I should just get the license from MN and then apply for a Texas License?

I am planning to move to Plano or McKinney area. Are there any openings for new grads at Baylor?

Thanks for your information. It is very useful. Thanks.

yes, I recommend you get your MN license, then move to Texas and get your Texas license. If you have a Texas address you can apply for the TX license before moving.

I am in East Tx so can't answer the questions about Baylor, etc. but they have a website (as do most all hospitals). Good luck and welcome to Texas.

Thanks for your information. I just received a package from Texas BON and they said I can sit for the Texas Nclex in MN if I can send the application and finger prints back 90 days before graduation.

I also just came back from N Texas last weekend and checked out some houses in Mckinney and Allen. I love the new development there. The houses are so big, nice and reasonably priced. Can't wait to sell my house in the summer and move to Texas soon!
