moving to tx

U.S.A. Texas

Published

Hi everyone,

I'm from NC but I start travel nursing in Sept. First assignment is Scott and White (NICU) in Temple for 13 wks. I used to live in TX but my parents tricked us into moving to NC when I was 12. Anyways...I am nervous excited! We were in northern TX then, so I know nothing about the Temple area. Anybody have any advice? I saw someone said Temple was a horrible place to live. Is it really that bad? What's the hospital like? What's there to do when I'm not working? It's close to Austin but I'm not familiar w/ there either. HELP!!!!! Any info is gonna be beneficial. Thanks in advance.

Should I move from Melbourne Beach,FL. to Irving ,.TX. I'm currently making 19.06 hr plus 4.25 for nights and 1.25 for acls. But the cost of houses is really cheaper in Irving? As well as our property insurnace is so high right?

The houses are affordable in Irving, but the property taxes in the state of Texas are generally pricey. For example, I pay a little less than $2,700 yearly for my medium sized 1,800 square foot house. When I lived in California, I paid about $1,800 yearly in property taxes for a comparable home.

Your pay rate will depend upon the years of experience you possess. If you have about 3 years of experience as an RN, most of the hospitals will pay you about $23 to $24 hourly with about $5 differential for nights.
