Jobseeking RN, new to TX

U.S.A. Texas

Published

Hi all,

I've moved to Dallas area in Aug 2013 from TN. Had some interviews in Aug but decisions deferred until I received TX license either temp or perm. Now, I've gotten TX RN license & am looking for advice/pointers on landing a hospital position. Have an AAS of Nursing degree, it seems a lot of hospitals prefer BSN. Have 3 yrs experience, 2 of those in M/S, tele, organ transplant & 1 year in skilled rehab nursing. Thanks in advance.

If you have a clean, valid license and that much experience with good recommendations from your previous employers you shouldn't have any trouble landing interviews around here. Many prefer BSN but if you indicate intent to get BSN within the next two years most will be satisfied. Even better if you are already enrolled in a BSN Program.

I have a little over 1.5 years experience total and recently sent out resumes. I had more interview offers than I could reasonably accommodate and four job offers.

Have you applied to Parkland Hospital? They are hiring experienced nurses at a feverish pace right now. Several of my former coworkers have landed interviews and/or jobs at Parkland.

Also, try UT Southwestern.

Yeah, Parkland has been blowing up my phone.

Thanks, I will do that.
