Job market outside of DFW area

OK, so my husband is looking for a new job (he is in construction equipment rentals) and he is looking outside of the DFW area to other areas of TX. I was wondering what the market is like for nurses outside of DFW. Specifically areas like San Antonio, Austin (although I hate traffic there), Corpus and the South. I don't have much hospital experience, so I know I will have to start over in that setting. Right now I am school nursing and LOVE it. Does anyone know of any districts hiring RNs outside of the DFW area?

Part of me thinks we are crazy for thinking about switching jobs in this economy, but we have talked about going to other areas of TX for years, and now that things are getting bad at my hubby's job, it might be the time to jump on it. Any thoughts welcome!

I noticed that you did not include Houston in your query. Should we be miffed?

No, it is just that I am from South Louisiana and I do not like high humidity! Other than the weather, I love Houston! Don't tell, but I am a bigger Astros fan than a Rangers fan :)

I think we may try and stick it out here for a while unless a great opportunity comes up for hubby. It is just a terrible time to be making a change unless you have to :(

Staying put may be the wisest course for now. Hey, I was just raggin' on you - everybody knows that H-town is waaaaay better than D-FW.
