HCC ADN Fall 2008 Applicants

U.S.A. Texas

Anyone applying to Houston Community College for the fall? I signed up today for the HESI. I am scheduled to take it on 3/29. If I do well, they will place me into the summer pharmacology course. I am a little nervous. I would love to hear from any students that are in the program. Any tips on the HESI & the Pharm. class would be helpful! The thought of it... ahhh it boggles my mind! LOL

Thanks!

Hi,

I'm applying to HCC for the Fall 08 program. I took the HESI in January. It's pretty easy and the test environment is relaxed and you choose which order you take the sections and it isn't timed on each section you just have until the end of the test period and there is plenty of time. I did well on it and all they did was tell me to call in May to register for the Pharmacology.

Good Luck,

Adrian

Thats awesome. What did you exactly use to prepare for the HESI?

Thanks :nuke:

They sell a HESI prep manual at the HCC bookstore (main campus is where i got mine). It's in the section with the Nursing textbooks and it's about $20 bucks. I just did all of the practive problems and reviewed the science and grammar.

Yes, that is the same book I used but, I got mine at the bookstore. It's a pretty basic test. The science isn't as detailed as on the NET, if you have taken that.

I''ve also applied to UTMB Bacc-2, UTMB Traditional BSN, and UTH Traditional BSN.

AdrianLu:

Did you prepare weeks in advance?

Let us know where you end up! I am sure you want to get into the BSN program. I plan on getting my BSN later on. I hear a lot of girls apply to the ADN programs as a back up.

I studied maybe a little over a month for the test.

I prefer a BSN as I plan to eventually get an MSN but, an ADN would be fine with me. Anthing that will get me in the workforce.

Ill be sure to post where I get in (if I get in) on the boards.

Good Luck!

I am sure you will! Heads up :)

Anybody out there in the program already? What are your views on the program? And how hard is the Pharmacology class?

Anyone know what the selection criteria is for HCC? I know passing the HESI, 90+% in the pharma exam, a good grade in Pharma all count; but I wonder what specific weight each criterion gets. Any ideas?!

I just passed HESI this morning, so I'm really looking forward to starting Pharma in Summer!! In fact, I'm going out to get a Pharmacology study guide to get a head-start...
