Has anyone had any experience attending Nursing school at College of the Mainland in Texas City, Texas? I have looked at thier pass rates with the state. How is the program there? Any advice on application/ acceptence?
If I were you I won't worry about getting admission or getting accepted. You must maintain 75 and above during the program in each course before your clinicals will be added. 2. You must maintain 90% in maths in your skills course all through the program. You only have 3 attempts. One question can carry 4pt. They give you 25 questions in intro to nursing. Some courses carry 40 questions, each 2.5pt. The only instructor that demonstrate effort to teach in class are intro. Mrs wells. You are given videos on skills. You are given chapters to study...self study..no teaching/ health assessment. During skill lab, you are expected to know all the skills by watching the videos. Instructors does not demostrate physically, she only comes into the lab, walk around without physically demonstrating the skill. If you like online education, with less assistance, this is the school for you. Nursing school is rigous I understand but when instructors are careless and lazy, your sucess is slim. The college is very cheap indeed but only 2 instructors does teach according to regulated standard. Mrs wells and the animated instructor to be precise. 90% and above in skills with all the trickish and twisted questions with no instructions, only self study! I wonder why students with a 3.8 gpa withdraw from this program. Open your eyes ppl. Nursing school this days is more of a business model.
