U.S.A. Texas

Seriously considering TX to relocate sounds as though job market may be tough esp as a new RN. I'm looking more rural any suggestions on rural setting hospitals in Tx that hire new grads? Thank you.

You really need to narrow it down a bit. It's a really big place.

It won't do you any good to move to a place that you simply cannot stand. So.... What kind of geography are you looking for? Can you see yourself living in a desert (far West TX), high plains (panhandle), piney woods (East TX), rolling hills (Central TX) Gulf Coast???? Are you OK with driving long distances to shop? How close do you need to be to an airport? How do you feel about diversity? If you can come up with some more specific criteria, let us know & we can help you a bit more.

Honestly I like the many different landscapes that Texas offers. My original background was in biology so I love to explore when time permits. I also like riding horses. So I'm pretty open to most areas of Texas where I can keep horses. I was being open to any area as new grads seem to being a hard time everywhere. I was offered a nice position as an cicu intern at a local hospital however there is a two year commitment after the 6 month process. Wasn't planning on waiting that long to relocate. Which is why I posted to inquire about opps in rural tx. So any hospitals etc in rural tx north south central east and west tx would all be considered. Thanks.

LOL - I admire your enthusiasm and openness to change. Although 'any area' of the state may be great in the abstract, the reality is likely to turn out to be very different - especially in the harsher and more barren areas. I would suggest looking at central Texas (hill country) area. There are quite a few great little towns but the ammenities of larger cities are not too far away. Take a look at this website for more detailed information about the area and towns. http://www.texashillcountry.com/.

I would also suggest a review of the Texas Rural Health Association site http://www.trha.org/index.htm - a lot of good background information on the state of health care, including the many challenges that they are facing.

Best of luck to you. Keep us posted on your progress.
