Baptist Health System ADN Nursing Program Fall 2014 Hopeful

U.S.A. Texas

Hello Everyone!! I've been doing a lot of research on which nursing school I should attend in the fall. And Baptist Health Systems in San Antonio seems to really be a good fit for me! I have a 3.5 GPA and I have some course already completed toward my bsn so thats a plus!! I haven't taken my TEAS yet and I'm sooo nervous. A lot of posts about this school are not up to date so any information about this school could really help me out. Anyone else out there applying to attend this school come August? How competitive is the program? How good is the program? Is it still considered better than SAC? the school is private so it's more expensive than most public nursing schools. Is the school worth the price???

Baptist Health and Science School in Memphis has a rep for being an excellent school. They also offer a program that allows you to work off your tuition at Baptist Hospital after you graduate. If you pay out of pocket, I've heard it runs around 40K start to finish.

Baptist health in San Antonio is only like $24,000 if you take prereqs with them. If you have your prereqs done which I think you do then it's $19,000 I believe. It's on their website. As for the the school I think it's number one in San Antonio for the best nclex ADN pass rate so it prepares you pretty well. Ppl that I know who go there love it!! I'm transferring for the fall 2014 from a BSN program. I was accepted for the spring but I had to take time to cover all my bases but I think this is my choice. I also applied to sac but bshp seems like a better fit for me.

Good luck!! Don't worry about teas it's over rated

I am waning to transfer my credits from Galen College of Nursing to Baptist. Does anyone know if Baptist accepts credits from Galen????

They didn't accept my credits from Wayland baptist but maybe u'll have better luck. Talk to the advisor she's pretty nice and helpful!!

Specializes in NICU( RN), Pediatric Nurse Practitioner.

Jen- they only accept your pre-reqs from Galen, not the actual nursing courses. A lot of nursing programs will not accept nursing courses from another school.

As far as pass rates as concerned, Career point actually has the highest NCLEX pass rate at 97.24% while Baptist has an 88.95% for the 2013 school year. Looking back at the pass rates on the BON, baptist does not really have excellent pass rates. 2012 was the only year they had a pass rate in the 90's. 2011 it was 78% and 2010 it was 85% (I do not go to either schools).

I am trying to avoid opening my Med-Surg book, so researching pass rates on the TX BON it is!

Thank you! Are they accepting your credits from the nursing school your coming from?

No they didn't that's why I didn't accept the spot needed time to research my options before I gave up my classes.

misskris,

i submitted my application for fall! did you?

No I didnt.. I didnt do that well on my teas. I'm going to retake it then apply! Have they said anything to you?
