Angelo State, anyone?

hi, i live in san angelo, so if you tell me exactly what you wanna know i'll answer your questions.

i don't know a lot about asu, i'm in the lvn program at howard community college. but i do know that the nursing students at asu get to wear light blue scrubs with the asu logo, and not those ugly white student uniforms we have to wear! :uhoh3:

does the city have a small town flavor? or is it more like a mid-sized city?

is there a lot of wildlife in the city? when i ask this, i am really asking about deers in the road and if the snakes are really active there. are the people there old-fashioned or progressive? last of all, do the different races all get along? thanks in advance! :)

we had a test monday and tuesday, i got a bad toothache monday and need a root canal (that i can't get until next week because of the holiday), so i'm all doped up on lortab right now. :bugeyes:

anyway, i'd say san angelo is more of a mid-sized city, but people are very friendly here. and as far as different races getting along, i don't know of any problems in that area. we have a large hispanic population here and to my knowledge everybody is getting along good. i am german and of course i still have my accent and people ask me all the time where i'm from. i haven't had any negative reactions when i tell them, on the opposite, people always wanna know how i like it in san angelo, where in germany i'm from, ....

yes, there is some wildlife, depending on where in the city you live. we live on the south end of town, our street is about 100 yards away from a lake, with nothing but brush between out street and the lake. so you here of snakes, spiders, .. in people's backyards. in the 2 years we lived there, i saw one small garden snake (about 10") in our backyard and 1 hairy black spider (about as big as the palm of my hand) on our front door step. there is a lot of new construction going on at the southwest part of town, so i imagine, they have their fair share of wildlife. and yes, on the roads leading into san angelo, you see the occasional dead deer on the side of the road. but if you don't live outside of town or on the outskirts, you'll be fine.

san angelo has grown quite a bit since we lived here, we got/are getting a bunch of new stores. a sam's club is being built, and a several stores just opened: circuit city, best buy, academy, bed, bath & beyond, petsmart, ross, ...

one thing i don't like is the distance to bigger cities, dallas/fort worth are 3-4 hrs away, san antonio is 3.5 hrs away.

My aunt actually graduated with her ADN from San Angelo. As soon as she graduated she moved to the San Antonio area. My dad was born there and I still have relatives that live there. From what I heard about the school, it is good, but most people leave the city once they graduate. My aunt (another one that lives there not the ADN) could tell you a few things about the medical community though since she has had a lot of problems with them. I have only visited there and not lived there though. Just wanted to say good luck!!

I do not plan to live in San Angelo if or when I graduate from one of their nursing programs. However, I was attracted to the fact that Angelo State University's ADN program has only one prerequisite. Also, they have an LVN-to-RN program that is accredited by the NLN.
