Union University Accelerated BSN (Germantown Campus) Fall 2015 admission

Hello guys

I am applying to Union University Accelerated BSN program to start Fall 2015. I have open this thread for anyone who is applying, but also for any nursing students that would like to give their input on the class schedule, workload, and clinicals. I have submitted my application to NursingCAS, and I have to retake A&P I & II. Does anybody know if they have accepted students prior to the application deadline? I look forward to hearing from you guys as we go through this exciting yet challenging time of our lives.

Hi,

I am a current nursing student attending Union University (headed into my last semester YAY!). I submitted my application early for the very reason of hoping to be admitted early. At the time, they operated by rolling admissions. I did get admitted prior to the application deadline (there were actually two deadlines--one in the fall and one that following spring).

The fall semester that you start will, by far, be the easiest. Looking back now, I do like the way Union sets their classes up compared to other schools. It is indeed a very intense program but I have found that for me, I still had time here and there to do things other than study. The most critical time will be the following Spring semester. There's just A LOT to adjust to. As for clinicals, I have pretty much enjoyed them for the most part. I've tried to hit the topics listed above but if you or anyone else has any questions about anything in particular, feel free to message me. I know this is a very exciting time in your life, as it should be! No nursing school program will be super easy but I think that if you are admitted into Union's program, you definitely won't regret attending. :yes:

Thank you so much for your post. I truly appreciate it. I have lots of questions. Will they even consider me for admission if I have to take my A&P classes over? Does anyone in your class work? I am new to allnurses and not sure how to message you, but I will figure it out soon enough. Lol.

I just checked out their site---you should be okay as far as being considered without having re-taken the a&p courses. I personally was admitted before even taking them for the first time and I finished a&p 2 literally a month before starting at Union. I think the policy has now changed to having them finished before May unless you are taking the courses at Union. As far as I know, only 1 person was working and I am 99% sure he is not working a set shift every week (I think he picks up shifts whenever he gets time). Everyone else stopped working by the time January rolled around.

On the right hand side, you should see a blue box that has an account link and a link for you to sign out. There are icons listed at the bottom of the blue box and you should be able to click on the message icon (looks like an envelope).

Thank you so much once again for your help. I guess it's time for the waiting game for me. All my stuff has been turned in to NursingCAS but it's not verified nor has my GPA been calculated. Does it really take about five weeks to get that done? Oh well here goes nothing lol.

You're welcome and the waiting game can get very intense! It took about a month from me completing my application to get my acceptance letter and for some, the wait could be even shorter or longer! Try to keep busy although from experience, that won't be easy at all! lol Cant wait to hear that you've gotten accepted!!! :)

Thank you once again for all the great info. I will definitely inform you when that wonderful day comes. Can you tell me more about your clinicals? Are you able to provide any direct patient care or is it observation? What type of settings are you in mostly hospitals? And are there papers or test that are due during your clinicals?

We provide direct patient care. Not sure how this upcoming critical care (ICU) rotation will be though. You will be assigned a patient in a hospital setting. The only setting where you probably won't think of it as a typical hospital setting is the psych rotation. There is definitely paperwork due but it is not so bad once you get the hang of things. There was a really good care plan tutorial on youtube. The professors are also great about providing a template and feedback on how they want the paperwork. You will be as prepared as you can be for your first clinical rotation. You don't just jump into clinicals right off the bat. You will take a Health Assessment course that will prep you for the clinical setting.
