The schedule that she posted is dead on. I only go to campus for classes. After spending that much time in a classroom I am ready to go! Once I get home I spend about 7 hours reading/ studying. I usually get 2 hours of sleep eachnight..maybe 3.
Clinicals are 12 hours so that day is pretty much spent at the hospital and straight to bed once I leave there. You all will find what works for you as far as studying. I'm sure all of my classmates don't put in that much time into studying but if you want to be successful you have to give up some things. The faculty will tell you that sleeping is not on the to do list. Y'all need not worry about the jan term. Focus on getting the pre reqs completed have fun while you can and get.ready for August. Get through august-Dec then focus on jan term. Trust me!

That's great mayas! Congrats! It's so exciting I'm from the Memphis area too, but now I live out of the county... about 25 minutes away from the Germantown Campus!

I was just accepted into the University of Memphis nursing program, but they are not offering the accelerated program this fall. If I did go that route it would take 2.5 years Yay Union!!!!

    Congrats, Mayss!

Speaking of hectic schedules, I know A&P is nowhere as difficult as nursing courses, but is anyone else suffering through A&P2? I took the lab and lecture exams this week for the cardiovascular system and lymphatic system, and they were scary! I don't know if it's just my school, but last semester, only one person made an A in A&P1 lab and only 5 people (including myself) made A's in A&P1 lecture with over 300 students.

I'm really good with lecture, but the labs drain me out! I hope nursing exams won't be like practical exams, but I'm sure they will be. Thoughts? I'm so burned out!!! Beautiful901 has me frightened now, haha. I'm delirious without at least 5 hours of sleep.

    Many many congrats Mayss!!!!

GeorgiaPeach I am with you a bit... AP2 is definitely tougher than AP1 for sure. I am feeling time crunched already just finishing pre-reqs. AHHHHHH What does this mean for nursing school?!?!? At an accelerated pace?

And ummm yeah props to you beautiful, but there is no way I could function sleeping only a couple hours a night?!?!!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

And speaking of AP2 - I guess I really should log off here now and get to studying. BIG Test Thursday and I volunteer all day tomorrow and I am not yet ready for the exam.... yikes!

A&P I and II were tough! I took mine last year at the University of Memphis. Good Luck you two! I understand the pressure and stress! I work as a full time teacher and was taking those classes and I felt as if my head was going to burst! LOL! As far as the nursing program...I just want to retain the information. It's going to be a lot to take in at a fast pace. We will be around nursing 24/7 for 15 months and I believe being in small classes will be beneficial. Plus Union has a high NCLEX-RN passing rate! We can do it!!!

Good luck, Combs! I love A&P, just not the stress. And Tinker is right. It's hard learning in large classes, unless the textbook is thorough.

Right back at you Georgia Peach. I too LOVE it... it truly is so fascinating. But definitely a lot of work. For me the worst part is the silly trick questions on the exams. I think I know a topic inside and out, but then come test question time I realize I may know it inside and out, but not backward and forward too
I managed an A in AP1, but have this sinking feeling AP2 is going to serve me a B

    I have a question...
I took microbiology in 2008 when I was a sophomore and passed with a B in the lab and C in the lecture. Do you think I will have to take it again at Union?
If I don't have to take it, what specific things should we be expected to know about microbiology in the program? I guess I will just have to do some research online and find videos/notes to review.
I am doing that now with A&P. I have been reading my textbook and taking notes/making outlines just to retain the information for the program (it's been over 8 months since A&P classes). I don't want to forget the material and feel like an idiot!!!
