Moving to Knoxville

U.S.A. Tennessee

Published

I currently live near Raleigh,NC and my husband is being transferred to Knoxville. I am working in an Internal Medicine Clinic, and have worked at Duke on a Med/Surg floor. Because of spine problems-I would like to stay in ambulatory care. I can look up our local hospitals and find positions in their outpt clinics. Trying to find a job in Knoxville, the hospital sites only show inpatient positions. We're looking at staying towards the west side of Knoxville.....Hardin Valley/Karns area. Any suggestions on how/where to find a job?? Also, is this a good area to settle? Any other suggestions on other towns? We have older kids so we're not concerned with schools, we just want somewhere reasonable, quiet and safe. Also, how is the pay for ambulatory positions? I have an ADN, and 7 yrs at my current position. I last moved from FL to NC in 1996, and making this transition now seems so much scarier! Yikes!! The housing seems very fair in the area, but I can't afford to be out of work at all. Also, although we're compacted, this is the first time I'm changing my licensing state. Any worries or heads-up in that regard? Any help would be SOOOO appreciated!! This is a great opportunity for my husband, and he's excited. I just don't want to be that variable in the equation that makes things harder or ruins us financially!!! :) For some reason my lettering size changed...I hope ya'll can read this!
