:nurse:If I win the lottery (get an offer/get the job), I will hope to make new friends in the hospital. I have family living in East Ridge and I love the area. I read where Memorial starts their PCT's out at $12 an hour. I don't know if that is true or not but I would hope that I do better than what I make here. I currently doing 7.60 an hour as a CNA at an assisted living. I need better pay and benefits especially if I am going to be on my own.:twocents:

I'm a PCT at Erlanger and that $$ sounds about right for PRN employees (no benefits). If you get hired full or part time (which entitles you to benefits) the pay is less than $12, but I'm not sure exactly how much less. However, I do believe it's more than what you listed as your current pay. I have heard from previous Memorial employees (PCT's/CNA's) that their shifts are 8 hours. At Erlanger, we work 12's. Chattanooga is a fantastic place to live/work/play. Good luck!

:nurse:I interviewed for the NNICU but applied for the MSICU with Dawn and she told me that the NNICU & MSICU was 10 hour shifts. What is your department? Maybe you could go 2 HR there & tell them you are curious what a F/T PCT makes an hour & I'm assuming they would probably telll you. Maybe you yourself might ever want to b F/T someday. What is the workload like for you as far as department responsibilities and how many patients on your watch. If you don't mind me asking you, how long did you have to wait b4 you heard that you got the job after you had your second interview bcuz its been a month now. I have had my second and there were 3 of us. She said the candidates were chosen for both departments but she is waiting on HR to do their backgeound/reference checks and when they do, she will go from there. That was the last I heard. The psition will b on the board until the final decision is made.

harley0511, you can also join me on Facebook. I am 10acgirl.

I'm in school, so PRN is perfect for me. I'm in the ER and patient load varies from 6-12 pts, depending on overall pt load and staffing. It took about a month after I applied to hear back from them, but then only 1-2 weeks after I interviewed to get an offer. We have PCT's who used to work Memorial on the floors and their pt load could be 15-20 at times. Some days are tougher than others, but always rewarding. :nurse:

Thanks for the FB invite, but I don't use it anymore.

Also, you could always call HR and ask them about the status of your application. See if they are doing YOUR background check for the position! :)

Thanks but, I called HR ths past Monday morning to check to see if the postion was still open or has it been filled, she said that as long as you see the position on the website jobboard, the position is still open. My thoughts on it are if HR is currently doing their background checks on t he winnng candidate that gotthe position....wy is the position still on the board and saying that it is still open! If the winner has been decided on and they have just not been contacted yet...don't you think that the position is longer available and should be taken off the board?:nurse:

If there is a way you can find out when the next orientation is, that will give me a better insught on how much or less waiting tim I have to hear a yea or a nay.:)

:nurse:Well, it's July 17th. I am going on the idea if I do not get a yea or nay from them b4 lunch, then they still have not contacted the new hire. And if I do not hear anything this coming week of July 19-23, and the position IS STILL on the board, I don't know what to expect and if they ever r going 2 make up their mind.:coollook: Oh yeah, I see that PCT's wear any color but what color of solids do you see the most?:clown: I was informed that they are playing with the idea of going back to color coded by department again. I can easily RIT my scrubs to another color.

Hope with luck that we will get that luck to meet (if ever I am notified either way) I will need to make new friends anyhow since I will b new in town .....again anyway bcuz I used to live in ChattVegas about 13 yr. ago. :nurse:

The orientations are varied. Some people do a 'group' orientation for several days in a row. When I was hired, I was in school and did an online orientation during my off days. So knowing when the 'next' one is doesn't really have much bearing...I wouldn't think. Hope you hear something soon...didn't you also apply at Memorial?

As for scrubs....'whatever' pretty much goes. Solids (lots of ceil blue, but also every other color), prints, t's w/scrub pants, etc. No need to dye your scrubs, but I have seen some cute tie-dye ones at work! :)

:nurse: Yes, I have applied @ Memorial since December in ALL open positions for PCT/CNA on Med/Surg and ICU floors. I have applied double on the same positions and updated my resume at least twice a month. I used to work there as a volunteer from 1994-1996 between the ER, Heart hospital, and Info desk in min lobby.

That should say something! And I did put it on my application about when it ask's,"Have you ever worked here?" I do have about 6 Ceil Blue sets and 6 Fuschia Pink sets but, if I had my preference, I would want Ceil Blue (since I already have it) and Chocolate. If you find out anymore, please do not hesitate to contact me, especially if you find out what the pay rate is per hour.:yeah:

You have to have a job b4 u can move to another state! Hope things have been going well with you at work in the ER and not too hectic.:nurse:
