TEAS test on Thursday 1/19/12 !!

Nursing Students TEAS

Published

hello,

i have my teas V exam at 10am-2pm on thursday the 19th at MDC medical campus,

i feel very confident with the science ( biological science bachelors degree), im iffy on the math its never been my best subject and then doing it by hand sucks but ive been practicing, this is totally embarrasing but the wort for me is identifing verbs, adverbs, adjectives ( basic elementary school stuff) : ( . i looove to read i went through a 500 page book in almost a day. when i practice the paragraph questions i can read them in about 1 minute and retain important information ( i timed myself) so i guess any additional advice like how complicated is the math portion or how much time should i allot for each question would be appreciated my goal is to attain above an 85 , my pre-req GPA is 3.75.

Thanks

I took the teas test a little over a month ago and I found the math section to be fairly easy. There were a lot of questions which required you to be able to read a graph/chart and then answer questions based on the information portrayed. There were also a few fraction questions as well as basic algebra. Good luck, you'll do great!

Math is basic algebra - solve for x, add/multiply fractions, etc. Make sure you double check everything. It's amazing what stupid mistakes we make rushing through simple math.

There wasn't much on verb, noun, adverb identification. Know how to properly use a comma and quotation marks. Know the difference between commonly misused words like you're/your, allude/elude, accept/except, their/there/they're, etc. Know basic sentence structure.

The math and grammar sections seemed to be on a Jr. High level. The reading and science portions seemed to be on more of a High School level.

Good luck!

To make things clear, none of the examples I used in my explanation were on my exam or even in my study materials. They are examples I made up from some of my own study cards that I used to prepare for the exam. Sorry if it sounded like I was quoting exam questions. I was not. I will be more careful in future posts.

omg its tomorrow morning....im freaking out now.....

just got back from my test ...got a 75.3% which is the 80th percentile

National mean is 64% so i scored way above that

reading=92.9% - 98th percentile

Math 66.7% -45th percentile ( the questions were super hard and there wasnt enough time, i had to guess on the last page)

Science 75% - 91st Percentile ( not as bad as everyone is making it out to be unless you have absolutely no science background)

English language usage - 66.7 - 63rd percentile damn punctuations

so what do you guys think my chances are the guy at the office said i have a "very good chance" because i have 3.75 pre-req gpa and a bachelors in biological sciences. im applying to generic and accelerated program at Miami dade college.

any advice would be appreciated
