TEAS 6 help! Question about practice exams A&B and how to study!

Nursing Students TEAS

Published

Hello,

I am currently a freshman going into my sophomore year majoring in Nursing. I need at least a 78% on the TEAS test to apply for my program. I have a 4.0 so far and only have 3 prereqs left to take (A&P1, A&P2, and Microbiology) before I can apply to my program. The reason for this post is I have a few question on how to study for the TEAS 6 exam. I have not studied AT ALL and I wanted to take the online practice test from the ATI site just to see how I would do, just to give me a guideline on what to study. I scored a 72% overall on practice exam A without studying. I got a 94% on math 87% on reading 75% on grammar (always have been super bad at grammar) and an embarrassing 40% on science. I haven't taken A&P yet and it was literally all A&P. I was just wondering if my score was a decent score without having studied at all. Also, I was wondering if how I did on my practice exam reflects how well I may do on the actual exam. Is the actual exam harder, easier, or the same? Lastly, I was wondering what the best way to study is. I have the ATI manual off the ATI site and I also have the Momortix TEAS secrets study guide. I was wondering if the ATI study manual off the site is sufficient enough to use to study the Math, English, and Reading sections of the TEAS. I have heard bad reviews on the actual study manual posted by ATI when it comes to studying for the science section, so I don't know how to sufficiently study for the science section because the manual isn't enough. any recommendations on how to study for the TEAS and how to study for the science! also if you could list your scores and how long you studied that would be amazing. Thank you!

That is a pretty impressive score without studying, good job! Everything you heard about the ATI manual is true. The book is great for reading, math, and english, but horrible for science. The Momentrix book is better for science, but still not 100%. I would, honestly, suggest waiting to take the TEAS until after you have taken A&P. Those classes will fully prepare you for the science section better than any manual. While in those classes, take good notes and KEEP them. My program weighed so much on this test, that I could not afford to not do well. Of course everyone is different, so if you are good at self teaching, then I would say go for it. Youtube has a lot of good videos about A&P, but, if you have the time, I would suggest waiting till you take those classes. I hope that helps and good luck to you!!
