Practices tests vs the real thing

Nursing Students TEAS

Published

How do the practice tests on the ATI website compare to the real TEAS V? I just took version a and did terrible and I have to take the real one on Thursday which doesn't give me much more time to study as I work full time and have a 4 year old son!

The thing is I really don't have a program I'm applying to yet. I live in San Diego Ca and everything is pretty much closed for transfer students bc of the budget cuts . I rather not wait till fall of 2013 to apply. So I'm looking out of state. I want to get started already. I have a 3.0 and my pre preqs are 3.2. I know my gpa ain't the best but I had a hard couple of semesters my first couple semesters do to the fact my brother had just been murdered. That's why I got into nursing the first place. I have a Biig drive and I just need 1 school to give me a chance to prove how much potential I really have you know. I plan on taking the teas again next month, this time be a little quicker. The thing was , when I times myself at home I managed to always have extra time. But what threw me off was the passages were a bit longer and a lot more math-word problems. But no excuses right ^_^ it's all part of the game :) gotta bite the bullet and hit it hard , I mean hard-er ;) lol best of luck to all u applying or taking the teas test soon :))

Sorry for some of the misspelling and missing words im writing from my iPhone. :-P

I'm sorry to hear about your brother! Sounds like we have a lot in common. I do not have a 4.0 either but I know if I could just find a school, I would make a damn good nurse! Let me know what you find, if anything, out of state! I wish there was something online! Lol.

I am taking the TEAS V today. I bought the ATI guide with 2 online tests. Took the 1st test without studying and got a 75% studied for 2 weeks and took the second test and got an 84% I will post my actual score when I get it and share my observations comparing practice tests to the the real thing.

How was your test?

I just got my scores and I did much better on the actual test that on the practices. My score was 94.7% which is 99th percentile both program and national.

As far as comparing the real test vs practice.

The reading and math sections were much easier on the real test.

The science was a little bit easier.

English was about the same on both tests.

The thing that surprised me on my score sheet was the national average is listed as 64.3%.

You did awesome, congratulations. I am taking mine on July. How was the math easier? And you had a lot chemistry questions? I am very nervous because it seems to hard.

Any metric conversion questions gave you the conversion factor, which I was nervous about. There were a bunch of really simple word problems, several easy "solve for x"

Make sure you know the basic stuff like finding percentages and +, -, X, / fractions.

I only got 1 wrong on math and I swear I AM NOT A MATH PERSON! However- I finished with exactly 1 minute left! So make sure you watch your time.

Not much chemistry, I think only 1 balance the equation question and it was a REALLY easy one. A few questions about tendencies of certain elements to react with others- that was as hard as it got. I haven't taken chem yet and I did fine. Most of the science is what I learned in the basic BIO course you have to take before a&p and micro.

FYI, to prepare, I studied the official guide for 1-2 hours per day M-F for 2 weeks before the test.
