SIUE CRNA and a 3.1

I graduated in December of 2012 with a 3.1 and am currently working in the ICU in central Illinois. I have an overall GPA of 3.09, a nursing GPA of 3.03, and a science GPA of 3.00. I am mostley interested in SIUE and am currently working on their pre-reqs of OChem and Physics, which I plan on (hopefully) getting A's in, or I know I can at least pull a B. My question is does anyone know if my low GPA will be good enough to make me a serious candidate or is it too low to the point where there will look at my app and pitch it in the trash. I really am passionate about the neurological system and how anesthesia works, but if my GPA wont get me in the door for an interview I wonder if it's honestly worth getting my hopes up. I'm going to try anyways, but if anyone has an input please feel free to let me hear it. Also, while SIUE is my first choice it is mainly because it's the closest. I am open to moving anywhere in the country if anyone has any advice on other schools that may be more open to lower GPA's.

University of Arkansas at Jonesboro has a gpa requirement of a 2.75 on average of last 60 hours completed and science gpa( a&p 1/2, micro, chem, maybe stats)

That's the lowest I've heard of though to be honest. Your gpa isn't the best, but it's certainly not the worst. Strong GRE scores, good ICU exp, good interview and you do have a shot.

Call the schools your interested in and talk to the program directors. They'll tell you flat out how you fair and what you can do to improve your application,

Thank you. I will give them a call sometime this week. It can just be so frustrating when you see the "minimum requirements" and you meet all of them and still have no clue where you stand. I guess its the same with everything, but it doesn't make it any less frustrating.

I felt the exact same way. As a matter of fact it's what made me originally post on this forum in the first place.

I found out after doing what I told u that the 3.0 min gpa req is usually just a minimum for grad school. The schools actually look at last 60 hours, science pre req's, and gre scores for an interview. Little things like that helped put my mind to ease and let me focus on getting the grades I need lol
