Is there any organic chemistry class that does not require general chemistry II as a prereq? I am currently a Level 2 nursing student who plans on CRNA school after one year in ICU. Im just trying to get my ducks lined in a row asap. If there is a class, how doable is it while in nursing school? thanks for any help

I'd say most likely not, but you may be able to find something online? Chemistry builds on concepts learned earlier, so it might be tough without Chem 2. You can easily do Chem 2 online except for the lab portion. I'd say you can do that now while in nursing school. Orgo is a little different - some people find it extremely difficult and it comes easily to others. No way of telling until you start, but it might be too much to do while in nursing school. I'd leave that for when you start working. Especially since you're planning on having the minimum amount of experience, make sure your pre reqs are As to better your chances. My 2¢

I'm taking CH 140 at Oregon State online. It's time consuming but doable. The cost is a bit pricey though for 6 credit $1600.

Chem II is definitely required before you start O chem. Check your local community colleges. Some of the colleges do fast track courses.
Thanks for all the help guys.

Can I just say organic chemistry is from hell? I got a B but just barely!!! It's nothing like anything you've done before...but yes, you do need a SOLID general chemistry background. I doubt you'd be able to find a class that doesn't require the 2 semesters. Sorry. And sorry you got that one ahead of you! Not to scare you but....don't be surprised!
