Nursing Students SRNA

Specializes in ICU.

I am an ICU nurse and is applying to a well recognized school for their CRNA program. It is a DNP program with concentration in Nurse Anesthesia. I have fulfilled most of the requirements except for my personal statement and my resume. I have been brainstorming for weeks now on the topic and just not getting anywhere. I was hoping someone can help me guide with some ideas on the topic. Below is the topic for my personal statement.

"The DNP program prepares you to sit for speciality certification (Nurse Anesthetist) and provides education in evidence-based practice, quality improvement, systems leadership, and other key areas to address important issues such as safety, effectiveness, patient-centerdness, timeliness, efficiency and equity of care. Identify a problem or question that requires a system change in health care, educational services and/or policies that you might address in your role as a DNP prepared health care provider. This problem should have relevance to current or emerging health care issues."

Specializes in ER/ICU/STICU.

Does this have to be anesthesia related? If not you can talk about the role of the advanced practice nurse and how important they will be in the future of health care as they will be needed to fill in the gaps left with both an increased demand of primary care providers and a lack of primary care physicians.

Anesthesia related, you could talk about the cost effectiveness of using CRNA's opposed to Anestheiologist and cite the studies that show there is no difference in outcomes if the anesthesia is delivered by a CRNA or an MDA.

No, it does not have to be related to anesthesia. Thank you for your suggestions, i think they both are great suggestions. I like them both and will look for studies r/t each idea. Thank you for taking the time.
