Looking to speak with students from UMDNJ Newark NJ and Columbia NY

Nursing Students SRNA

Published

Are there any CRNA students from UMDNJ Newark or Columbia out there? Initially I was supposed to attend Barry University in Miami, but my fiance could not relocate with me due to his job, so I applied to these programs which are so much closer to where we live. I was accepted into Columbia (beginning May 31) and I'm waiting to hear from UMDNJ (will prob hear the first weak of March). There are a lot of "pros" to both programs; so if I were to be accepted into UMDNJ as well, I really want to make a well informed decision. I've spoken with a Columbia student and a Columbia graduate, so I have some questions especially for the UMDNJ students. Thank you in advance.

I know quiet a few people who are going on to Columbia from hunter, so I would love to attend one day.

500 applicants for 10-15 spots... you need to be the cream of the crop to get in.. many apply because tuition is so low.. program's alright.

good luck~

dfk, just wondering how you know that their acceptance rate is 10/~500. how did you find that out? how can i find that out about schools... they seem to keep such information closely guarded.

what kind of a program consists of only 10-15 students? i'm not dis/agreeing with you, i'm just saying it in general, that's not even worth enough for a program to run.

is Columbia that much easier to get into ?

Many programs only accept 10-15 students. I am one of 10 in my class. Often, the number if students accepted depends on the availability of clinical experiences.

do you if this is so with columbia too?

it must be worth enough to some programs.. my program has 15 ft students and 2 pt students.. to me, smaller the better.. greater one to one interaction.. i don't know of columbia's enrollment.. give em a call..

it's not information that's made public by the institutions themselves, if you catch my drift. when you start talking and interacting with people on the inside, information seems to surface. being from brooklyn, some things just came afloat. as for the number of applications, again, similar fashion. but remember, you're talking about a cuny tuition with millions of residents all around that campus. law of average here.

as for these specific numbers you are looking for, re: gre and gpa, they are pretty much listed on each school's website. you might just need to do some searching. if not, you can always email/call the adcom or director and just ask them..

there are 29 of us at columbia. i have no clue how many actually applied. but i think there are 31 or 32 clinical positions available for us. i'm going to guess that it is always subject to change year to year. don't be scared to apply. i almost didn't. if you really want it, just apply everywhere that is feasible to you. see what happens.
