Can someone please list how many CRNA programs and or schools there are located in the state of Illinois? Any input is greatly appreciated. :heartbeat

Specializes in CVICU.

There are five. You should definitely check out AANA.com and look under the "Becoming A CRNA" tab. There's tons to learn on AANA.com for CRNA wtb's. I haven't been able to meet many people with much insight on IL programs so if there's anyone out there with much to say please do. I'll be set to apply to SIUE and Bradley/Decatur first.

There are 5 total; 3 in the chicagoland area, 1 in central illinois and 1 in southern IL. Chicagoland programs are: Rush in downtown Chicago, Northshore University Healthsystem which is a suburban system (evanston, glenview, highland park and skokie hospitals, with clinical sites all over the chicagoland area), and Rosalind Franklin in North Chicago closer to Gurnee area. Central IL program is Decatur/Bradley (few hours drive from Chicago), and southern program is SIUE, which is FAR south. All of these programs are fantastic! Which one(s) are you primarily interested in? I'm going to Northshore in Evanston for Fall 2009, but know people who attended or are attending other programs in IL.

I hear Northshore in Evanston accepts Trauma Level I ER Experience, is this true? I believe so. I hear that you have ER experience and get accepted at Northshore University that you still have to fulfill the ICU 1-year requirement in some way, like doing SICU @ Illinois Masonic of Advocate Healthcare. Also, I just wanted to know what your porfolio was like (GRE score, Nursing GPA, Science GPA, letters of recommendation, years of experience in ER or ICU, anything extracurricular outside) if you can tell me when you applied. Closest to me would be Northshore University. Thanks for your responses. :bowingpur
