I got these two offers and now I am not sure which one would be better for me. I need some advice to make the right choice that will help me get into CRNA program after I pay my dues at an acute care setting.
Here are my choices:
#1
Large Tertiary Hospital in another state
Pay is low (not an issue)
CCU
Friendly manager/team
Day shift
I know only few people in that area but I am friendly and can make friends easily.
Will be spending money to relocate and get established there (not a major issue).
#2
Small Community Hospital in the same state I live in and easy commute form my home
Pay is about $9/hr higher than choice #1
SICU
Nice team/manager
Night shift (I am not a night person at all- but I might adjust (not sure though))
My family/friends live in the same state.
What would you do if you were me ? I want to get my CRNA in the near future! Please help with some insight on what should I do please :bowingpur

Is CCU a "step down" unit? At my hospital, CCU is "transitional care" i.e. they don't take vented patients or patients with serious drips.......this is not the path you want to take.
I would say take the SICU, eventhough the hospital is not a level I trauma center, you will still get vented patients who are hemodynamically unstable......which is what you need.
And you better get used to some nights, because your clinicals or "life after" becoming a CRNA will probably include night call at the very least.......
good luck,
