Nursing Students SRNA

sup folks look I was wondering if it is still possible to get accepted into a CRNA program even though I've got alot of B's in my undergrad sciences like my A&Ps and micro...I'm not an idiot I know i could have definitely made A's only I have a one year old and my wife works grave shift at a casino and sleeps most of the day and no babysitter 95% of the time. That really took a toll on my school and studying (to be honest I dont see how I made B's) anyway I start the nursing program in Spring and want to become a CRNA one day so I was wondering that if I can find a way to finish out my prenursing strong and do well in the program, will I be able to get in to an anesthesia program one day? I know I still have to get the however many years experience and take the other exams but if anybody out there got in with B's in some undergrad sciences please tell me about it and take some of this weight off my shoulders... THANXX

I cant really say how many people have gotten in with B's, but it sounds like you still have your nursing courses ahead of you. So forget about a few B's (which isnt all that bad) and just concentrate on doing well on your nursing classes. It doesnt seem like your family life is something that would easily be changed, so focus your energy on doing what it takes to get that nursing gpa up: get in study groups, make notecards, read the kid chapters from your nursing textbooks to get him to go to sleep every night (kill two birds with one stone!) Just the fact that you are thinking about getting into CRNA school a few years from now puts you ahead of the game.

u know that is a great idea to read notes and books to him...hey bo i preciate that

Yes, possible to get in with B's. I think they focus on your nursing courses, personality, abilities and accomplishments! Making A's is not the most important thing...it's being good at what you do!

I was accepted to a CRNA program with mostly B's and a few C's.

My cumulative GPA was 2.8, I took the MAT-45. I applied and was accepted to Bradley University/Decatur Memorial hospital in IL. I start next month. My experience includes 2 years regional burn center, 2 years general ICU and 2 years Cardiac Intensive Care..

Where is such a program?

bertie :uhoh21:

I was accepted into both programs I applied for and I made B's as well as a few C's in nursing classes and some science classes. When applying that worried me that I wouldn't seem competitive, but they really do look at the overall picture. I did decent on the GRE nowhere near what I wanted. I have been an ICU nurse 1 year and 6 months. I went into the ICU knowing I wanted to become a CRNA so I made sure I learned as much as I could. I was accepted into Georgetown and Raleigh School of Anesthesia so I got into some really good programs. All schools are competitive so I would say know what your weak areas are and be ready to explain them then let them know what you are willing to do to be successful in THEIR program. I hope this helps. Don't let the admission criteria deter you, but do work as hard as you can to look competitive. I hope this helps and GOOD LUCK to you!
