CRNA to be GRE Score, Any CRNAs remember their GRE Score?

Hi guys/gals,

Finishing up my year on my Cardiac Step-Down floor(telemetry)...

Then I'm off into the ICU to get a few years of experience, then off to CRNA school if all goes well.

Just finished my first hack at the GRE and go the following score:

Verbal: 400 out of 800

Quantitative: 610 out of 800....

So a 1010 total...many schools for CRNA that I have looked at require at least 1000 on GRE...I plan on taking it a few more times to hopefully get the Verbal score up...

Any input on my score and present CRNAs if you can remember, haha

You might have better luck on the CRNA or graduate boards, good luck!

while I am not a CRNA, I will be starting the program in a couple of months. your score was VERY similar to mine. there ae many other things that go into acceptance than GRE score. some schools look at them more closely then others. but references and experiences I honestly feel are the two biggest things looked at. maybe im wrong, who knows. cause everyone has at least the minimium requirements when they apply.

if you have a couple of years to go, why not study up a bit more and retake the test, it shouldnt hurt.

I agree with Tony. Your current score would probably be just fine but if you still want to retake it and get your verbal up, I used the Kaplan study cards in a box and it worked well for me. I saw quite a few of the words on my exam.

Hey Jomo- good thing is you have PLENTY of time. To start, your score is acceptable by 90-95% of the programs in the country from their list of requirements. I studied for several months every day off to prepare (I had a tight deadline) and my verbal improved greatly. The benefit of a higher GRE score is that many programs assign a numeric value to parts of your application when deciding to interview and when making decisions. The stronger your GRE, the easier it will be to get an interview and to show off why you belong in their program. I bought Kaplan Verbal Prep book and I bought a Princeton Review book (math + verbal). I found it very valuable to use both books because one approach you may find more natural than another. I really drilled the math problems in the Princeton review book and the online GRE examples (ETS website) so the math portion went very well for me. Start working on your vocabulary now, it is the best way to increase your verbal score. Good luck!
