Classes conducive to learning anesthesia?

I am a sophomore in my BSN program and am considering taking extra classes like o-chem, and/or physics. These classes are not needed for my diploma, or any of the Nurse Anesthetist colleges in Ohio, but I thought it might be academically advantageous.

I am maintaining a good GPA in all courses, and am aware that I must have the one year of critical care under my belt before applying to the various schools for my MSN.

I was wondering if some of you CRNA's could lend a little advice on what other/extra classes, if any, that might help me in anesthetist school.

As long as your grades are competitive right now with your regular classes, I wouldn't take any more classes. That's my opinion, others may have more insight!

If you are determined to take more classes to prepare yourself, you cannot go wrong with any pharmacology classes, or physiology (the course that the pre-med students take, not the one that the nursing students take, it has a different focus.)

The chem would definitely be a plus but I wouldn't waste my time with the physics.

As long as your grades are good in undergrad I would not worry about taking extra classes unless they are required for your MSN program. My program required a biochem class as a pre-requisite which I had to take after completing my BSN. If your top choice schools require a class such as o-chem or physics then getting out of the way now could be beneficial to you, but if the MSN program you're looking at doesn't require it then I think it would just be a waste of time. Just my opinion though, good luck!!! :)
