Chemistry & CRNA school

Nursing Students SRNA

I have read on this forum that you will learn everything in school, but I have not had any chemistry since high school (~10 yrs). I am currently in school for my BSN & Chemistry is not a required course. Should I take general chemistry just to fresh up, or will I truely learn all I need to in CRNA school? Or should I wait another year :sniff: and take a few chem classes?

Thanks! :wink2:

here are some web sites to help you. if you have to take college chemistry, your high school chemistry background will be sufficient. i took college chemistry with no chemistry background at all. i just had to study harder. the only difference between hs chemistry and the college chemistry that i kept hearing students talk about was all the math we had to do in college chemisty. if you get a professor that likes the math part you just have to work problems at home over and over before tests until you understand what you are doing.

I am not sure of any CRNA program that does not require atleast 2 semesters of General Chemistry. Some even require a biochem/organic chem course.

Even if it's not required for your BSN, most CRNA programs will require at least one college level chemistry course. Also, most programs require that it be taken within the last five years. Look at the requirements for programs that you're interested in because some programs will actually require additional science classes such as biochem, organic chem or physics in addition to the basic chemistry courses.
