*young student*Anesthesia CRNA HELP?

Nursing Students SRNA

Published

Hey,

I'm a freshman in high school and I want to become a Anesthetists.

So I was hoping if you guys can tell me what classes should I take and what volunteering programs I should go in.

It's a master's degree program, and the easiest way to get there is to go to a university, and earn a BSN - bachelor's of science in nursing first. As young as you are, all you have to do is high school is do well enough to be accepted into a university that has a BSN program. For now, look into the ones in your area, or in areas you would be willing to move to. There's no need to go anywhere terribly exclusive for undergrad.

I wish I knew about this profession when I was your age.....if I did here is what I would do.

1) Take as many college prep courses in the sciences as you can in HS...this will help you ACE the intro chem and physics your first couple semesters in college.

2) Keep you GPA up as high as possible the 1st few semesters in college...this will lay the groundwork and make it easier to maintain a high GPA. If you start off with a 2.5...it will be harder to bring up than it will to bring a 4.0 down

3) Do some volunteer work at a hospital/shelter, etc..

4) Shadow CRNA's in as many setting as possible to make sure this is you want and to be able to explain to a commitee WHY you want it.

5) Try and gain some leadership roles in HS/college...this is important to some anesthesia schools...it was with mine.

Good luck...

Thanks guys for responding .but I'm worried becouse before this third marking period of freshmen year I never cared for school and missed a whole bunch of days and did horrible in school, like I'm worried , I don't think me doing good for the rest of high school is good enough. :nuke::uhoh21:

umm to be honest i seriously doubt anesthesia schools look at your high school grades. they will be mainly look at your performance in your college nursing program and your ICU work experience. first step for you i getting a decent science background and figuring out what college you'd like to go to. the stronger your sciences, the easier your nursing pre-requisite classes will be.
