Walden FNP class schedule

Hello ,

For those who are in Walden's FNP program I am wondering if its possible to take evidence based practice(nurs6052), inter professional organization (nurs6053), and advanced patho(nurs6501) all in one quater or would I be setting myself up for failure .

I work full time and I am a single mother but I would like to take health assessment and pharm together. If its too demanding I will end up having to take pharmacology by itself before beginning the practicums portion .

Actually the school automatically registers the students for each quarter based on your program of study. However you have the choice to take one class if you wish. Foundations and policy is doable .. Foundations is six weeks only then you will have the next six weeks to focus on policy. There is a big 3part writing project which can be quite time consuming, at least it was for me. I took foundations alone just because I wanted to evaluate whether the program was right for me. I took nurse informatics and policy together, (was stressful). I just completeted research which I took alone( very time consuming). I am now enrolled in leadership and advance patho starting dec 2. The school also offers a preview period where you have access to the class prior to new quarter, you can decide based on your work sch, fam obligations etc if you want to take one or two. The clinical section you are advised by the school to do one, there are four clinical rotation and you will be responsible for all the class work. I have a friend in the clinical section of the program and it is quite busy as you are responsible for logs, journals, papers, posting as well as going to your clinical site. The program is doable.... At times I find the writing to be a bit much ..... I hope this helps... I wish you much success.

Thanks glad to know leadership and patho are doable. I looked at the course load today and most of the topics for leadership looks quite familiar, so I guess like you I will be spending most of my time on patho...

thinking of starting in a few months, is it doable to work full time during the clinical portion, 3 12hours a week,? my plan IS TO TAKE 2 WEEK VACATION AT START OF CLINICALS AND FRONT LOAD MY HOURS BY GETTING 70 or 80 hours done the first 2 weeks. doable? how much extra writing/work is required other than going to clinicals?

Make sure your preceptor is available for you to front load those hours. Their work hours may vary and they may have vacations of their own. It will be difficult to work full time because there is a ridicules amount of reading. If you have a family or married I would caution against it. The writing is not bad but again the amount of reading is sometimes unbearable.
