I wanted to start a thread for the UTMB FNP 2014 Fall program. I didn't find one for the fall 2014 program. I hope to touch base with future classmates.

Thanks

Hello everyone,

My name is Laura, I will be starting the FNP program Sept 2nd with you all. Just wanted to say hello! I live in the Spring area. I am in the process of moving right now, but really excited to pursue my NP. See you all August 25th and 26th for orientation.

Laura

I posted this in the other forum for FNP students - will reply with response when I receive it:

So I know there is some software for PDA's required for BSN students, but orientation packet doesn't state it's required, but skyscape.com/utmbson has FNP programs on their site for purchase and install... so I fired off an email to Bonnie Webster in informatics - i'll post her reply when I receive it.

Hi Ms. Webster:

I’m starting the FNP program and orient on Monday. I received information from the orientation packet regarding PDA software for BSN students, but what about MSN students?

Skyscape.com/utmbson has the FNP programs on their site. Should I have these purchased and installed prior to orientation?

Joe Poole BSN, RN

Joe: I asked this same question on the current FNP facebook page of students about to graduate and they said they never bought any smart phone apps through skyscape, they didn't know what I was talking about. I am not going to buy anything until I get there and they say I have too.

Thanks Maryann - I wasn't going to purchase either! The skyscape program has a free app thats kinda helfpul (only one) but I did hear back and we are to hold:

Hi Joe,

Actually that document was intended for the BSN students and a requirement for them. But for the MSN students, there is no requirement at this time. During orientation, I believe the faculty will be suggesting some apps that are helpful.

There is a link on that site with software that has been used in the past but is not a requirement at this time.

Thanks and congrats to you for coming back to school!!! Best to you!!

Mrs. Webster

Hey, Josiah,

I will be in school for FNP soon, how many times do you have to go campus per week during regular classes? since it is online program, I hope it is not much traveling to handle, is it hard program?

If school arranges precptors, is it going to be in Galveston or Houston? thanks a lot.

Hello Torres,

So did you get in the program? Even I live in Flower mound and I am thinking to apply there but not sure as to how can I do clinicals there and stuff.

Can you please help if you know anything

thanks

Bijal
