How many totals years coming out of highschool would it take for one to officially become an Oncology np?

Specializes in Oncology.

First you will have to get your BSN (so 4 years for a bachelors degree in nursing and that's if you get in right away, nursing programs are very competitive). Most oncology NP positions want you to have some background in oncology as an RN and this can range from 2-5 years and a Masters program will take 2-3 years.

I've been an oncology RN for 13 years and plan to continue in outpatient oncology after finishing my NP program.

Best thing you can do if you are still in high school is maintain a good GPA. Also, it never hurts to get a little healthcare experience, you can learn a lot as a CNA prior to getting your RN.

Hope this helps!
