Maryville University Nurse Pracitioner Program

Nursing Students NP Students

Hello All,

I am new to the allnurses.com. I was wondering if anyone can help me with this question.

I was wonder if any of you out there are in the Maryville University NP program that is online? I specifically want to know how you feel about the classes being online and if you feel like you are learning the material to be a competent provider. I am leery about attending an online program because I have never done online classes. Also how are they assessing you on you Health Assessment class if it is online.

I am currently also applying to a university that is not online but they only offer DNP and I am not really excited about going to school for four more years.

Any information and opinions would be very helpful :)

Hello:

I am a Maryville University FNP student with two semester left to finish. I am an A student but this year has been brutal at the hospital and at home with the pandemic.  I have been working a lot and am exhausted. Last  night I took my final exam and I believe that I failed the exam badly. I have an A in the course but if I did fail it then I will be dismissed from the program per my advisor. I wonder has anyone had this happen and apply to a different FNP program? What schools might accept my the transfer of some or all of my classes at MU?

Thank you.

I am sorry to hear that things have been rough. I am also in the program and in my courses you need an 80% average on exams in order to pass the class. If you already had an A in the class before the final, you would have had to completely fail in order to bring your grade average for exams that low. Are you sure that you failed? Don't get too worried without knowing for sure.

But, if you do need to transfer, I think that most of the classes like Adv Health assessment, pathophys and pharm would transfer, but most schools have a minimum credit requirement for graduation from their programs.

I also read in the Maryville information I have that one class can be repeated, even if you failed. It would probably make financial sense to investigate that option before transferring to another school.

That being said, I've been very disappointed in the school overall so transferring doesn't sound like a bad thing. But with only two semesters to go, you're risking a big financial setback.

Good luck.
