How to become a NP w/ a BS in Bio

I have a bachelor's degree in Biology and I want to become a Nurse Practitioner in California. I'm pretty confused about my options on how to do that. Obviously, I would like to do this in the fastest, cheapest way possible. Does anybody have any advice for me? Thanks!

You would apply to a direct entry MSN program after completing the prerequisite courses (some schools require that you take the GRE as well). These programs are usually 2-3 years after which you would be able to sit for the boards. You can use google to find out about direct entry MSN programs close to you.

Another option would be to get into an accelerated bachelors in nursing program (usually 12-16 months) and then apply for a masters after you pass the NCLEX.

You have multiple options:

1) Complete a direct-entry MSN/NP program. This will be the fastest way, but will not be cheap.

2) Complete a BSN either as a post-bacc in a traditional BSN program (typically takes 2 years) or through an Accelerated BSN program (12-18 months). Then return to school for NP training. More affordable than direct entry and provides an opportunity to stop and work after completing BSN, but also not particularly cheap as most programs do not offer significant financial aid for second-degree students.

3) Cheapest option is an ADN followed by bridge to either BSN (then MSN) or directly to MSN. This option takes the most time.
