How do NPs get paid in Canada?

I am a new grad RN that is looking into becoming a NP in the near future. I wanted to know how Canadian NPs get paid in the community setting (ie. Doctor's office). As I understand, NPs don't have fee-per-service, thus we cannot bill the government for the services we provide. Does that mean the doctor's office would pay NPs out of pocket for their services? So who would charge the services provided to the patients seen by NPs?

I'd like to know answers to that question too!!!! I'm about to start my FNP program in ontario this fall and I havent decided where I want to work after I get degree.

Canada is not the best place to be a NP. Try the states and you will reap the benefit of your hard work.

I imagine what @Ndy-RN meant is since Canada has single-payer, NPs make less. Physicians make less there too.

Having said that, I would be curious to know the answers to the OP's questions as well, but after three years, no one has been able to answer them, it seems.
