How is the program thus far? I started today and after reviewing the syllabus I already feel overwhelmed. What beneficial information can you provide to help in my sccess of the FNP program?

Thanks in Advance

I started on late Oct/2015 and has been attending without break. Currently taking physical assessment. I took a class at a time since I have a full time job and an about-to-turn-to 3 daughter. I did not get much help either of our families and my husband is busy with his job. In addition to that, English is not my first language.

I got a lot of hints about this program by checking out this allnurses.com, so I am sharing my experience with you. The classes themselves are very organized and you can see the detailed assignments and content of the class when the class is open. So you can prepare in advance. The difficulties of the classes vary depending on the professors. Most of them are good but some professors deduct heavily without proper explanation. I spent sometime on the phone resolving those issues and sadly the school sided with the professors without proper explanations.

Another thing is to find a practicum site. I've found one place luckily but it looks that I might need to find another one probably pediatrics. Most urban areas, family clinicians see patients above 13 years old. Most clinics are hesitant to let me do practicum, so if you already established the network, that is good. Otherwise, you might not get much help from the school. Practicum coordinators do not help you at all finding the sites. They do not even give any hints. After taking the very first class, I started to worry about how to find a practicum site. I luckily found one, but not sure how it turns out eventually since I did not graduate from school yet.

I found the common gradual coursework irrelevant to clinical but I realized that most FNP schools have the similar course formats, so I do not think we have much choice on here. It is more like a philosophy. I need to write "why is nursing important" by using "evidence based data within 5 years published". Chamberlain uses 'Turn it in'. I agreed there are good parts on it, but it made me frustrate a lot because it showed high plagiarism index although I did it on my own.

Every school has its own difficulty but I am sure you can do it once you get accepted. So good luck with you, all guys!
