Any current USC MSN-FNP students here?

Nursing Students NP Students

Hi, I just got the call that I am accepted to the USC MSN-FNP program, I am so excited! I am taking the bridge course in January and then starting the program in May 2018. I was wondering if there is anyone else here who is currently in the program who could talk a little about it.

I'm curious if there is any word on when the CCNE accreditation is happening, and how the course work is going? How did the clinical placements work out? Any tips for an incoming student about useful apps or study strategies?

Thanks!

Hi there! I recently submitted my application and am waiting to hear back. I hope I get to join your cohort! How are things going so far?

I hope everything is going well! I have applied to start this upcoming Fall. Did you have to take the bridge course and if so was it difficult and how many weeks was it?

The bridge was 8 weeks. 2 hours live session a week, and 8 long modules.

Thanks so much renzlao, I've just read a bunch of your posts about the program in the info has been helpful. I'm slogging my way through Patho and Assessment right now, almost done!

Also, anyone who is thinking about skipping the bridge class, I would caution you. We have a few students who skipped it and you can tell they are really struggling. I know I'm doing well because I had that foundation&refresher!

Also, I will second that working and school are a rough mix. I am working 12-24 hrs a week and enrolled part time, its rough. I have small kids too, so my time is stretched super thin these days. I basically study for a few hours before they get up, and after they go to bed in addition to when I have a babysitter or my husband is home to help out.

That said, I'm really pleased with the quality of the program and so happy I don't have to worry about finding preceptors! Also, LA is a big market and I think when I go to apply for positions having a USC education will be a leg up. Most of the ER docs I work with are USC trained and have told me that it will help if I want to get hired with them or if I am looking outside of ER/Urgent care they know people all over LA. Its always about who you know.

Hahah the Patho though! LOL you are going to vomit signal transduction every week lol you'll have to be friends with cAMP and IP3 HHaha good luck! I'm sure you'll do well.
