My fellow NP students out there, I know I am crazy but do you think its feasible to take t advanced pathophysiology and pharmacology together? I am very determined to do this and will put in all the time and effort needed. Thanks for your honest opinions.

It's very time consuming and if your working full time it will be very difficult. I took them separately

Specializes in ER.

I took them both at the same time. I did not find either class to be particularly challenging, but there was a ton of homework and assignments and they were time consuming. Physical assessment is the hardest class from an assignment perspective, and that I would recommend taking by itself.

It can be done. If you have a good grasp of the basic science stuff going in, and are not working too much, I think you'll be fine. Nursing experience helps, as well. Sometimes the test question makes you think of a particular patient and you make the pharm/patho connection. But man, it's not going to be fun!!!!

Thanks everyone for your honest opinions.

Thanks for the support. I made it through the quarter with an A and A+. It wasn't bad at all. Hard work and determination can get u a long way ??

I took them at the same time. Sadly, the patho was more of a proctored "learn it yourself and come in for tests" class. It was a forifice really, and I retained very little of it. It was a nice, big book too with lots of cool biological stuff in it. Sad really. The pharm class was pretty good. I enjoyed that and learned more about managing thyroid disorders, diabetes, hypercholesterolemia, hypertension, and other chronic diseases than in any other class I've ever had.

I took them both with a research and healthcare admin class, and made A's in all four so it's doable. You'll do fine. Don't sweat it.
