To drop your child off at school with a suspected broken arm, with the reassurance that "I'l try to get off early and take you to the doctor this afternoon." WHA?? Your kid is 8yrs old and he can't move the arm AT ALL. It is clearly broken in at least one place, maybe two! Believe it or not, we nearly had to call 911 over this. Mom insisted that she could not leave work to deal with this.

Ah, but I have an ace in the hole...I called GRANDMA. Who lives in Florida. Who called up her daughter and read her the RIOT ACT. Then called me and told me what she had done. Mom was there within 10 min. Gotta love a good Grandma!

How about sending the kid to school with a homemade 'cast.' As in, a sock wrapped in duct tape. Had that recently.
