Interviewing for Research Nurse position-Need advice!

  1. 0
Hello! I am interviewing for a Research Nurse position this week. I have many years of clinical experience in the area of study, but I do not have research experience. The job announcement states previous research experience preferred, not required. I currently only have an ADN. I have wanted to find a way into research, but assumed I would have to wait until I finish my BSN. But this might be an opportunity for me.

I have 2 questions for any experienced research nurses:
    1. Do you have any advice for when I interview with the physician managing the study?
    2. If I am selected for the position, where might I go for resources as a novice research nurse?

    Thanks for any suggestions!

ask about institutional review board activities and what your responsibilities are outside of the rn role. i was an adult oncology clinical trials nurse and found that there was no administrative support for my studies. many of my tasks were copying, collating clinical trial changes and updates and informing the governing body of those changes.

    2. if i am selected for the position, where might i go for resources as a novice research nurse?

search this site, using 'clinical research nurse.' you will find wisdom at your fingertips!

    3. review the job description carefully and make sure I understand all of the roles and responsibilites
    4. review ethical considerations in the recruitment and enrollment of research subjects
    5. look into the society of clinical research associates certification program to gain more understanding of the specialty of clinical research http://www.socra.org/html/certific.htm
