Hi all! This is my first post...just registered today! I found this BB to be very good for nurses to communicate! I was wondering tho, are there any clinical research nurses out there? None of the posts under "research nursing" really applied. I would like to see somebody in the same field respond.

I am a Certified Clinical Research Coordinator at a University and do all types of studies.

Specializes in Clinical Research, Outpt Women's Health.

Usually clinical trials involve using a drug or device and are funded by the pharmaceutical industry verses clinical research which usually relates to investigator initiated studies that evaluate certain treatment or therapies or risk factors etc........

Specializes in Oncology, Research.

Same thing. Titles differ even within organizations. My job title is RN Spec, working title is Clinical Research Coordinator. I have friends in different departments that do the same thing who are Research Nurses, Clinical Trials Nurses or Clinical Trials Coordinators.

Hi

I am a nurse in the Philippines. I want to start a career as a clinical research associate, may I have some few advice on how to begin?

Thank you so much.

Sincerely,

Specializes in HIV, Psych, GI, Hepatology, Research.

I am a clinical research nurse/research coordinator for a gastroenterology clinic in west central Florida. Nice to see posts from others who are in research.

Hi central FL research nurse buddy. I am also a CRN transitioning to become a CRC. I too am working towards becoming a CRA in the future. I've been told that I have enough experience to do it now, but I would at least like to get CCRC or CCRP certification before making that move.

Hi! I've been told that I don't need any further certifications, that my RN will get me further than those non licensed but I am just not sure. Are you going to test this year?

Probably true about the RN giving you more opportunities, or being more valuable from a clinical research perspective, but I'm not 100% sure. I've still got a while to go until I meet the time eligibility criteria for certification.

Would you have any interest in coming up I-4? I think we're looking for another RN research coordinator.

I wish I could but my family ties are all here. Family first! I do love my current job as a research coordinator but I need more. It's not fulfilling enough.
