Specialties Rehabilitation

I'm currently a new grad (3 months) Lpn in St. Louis.....and Im wondering if there would be a guaranteed position if I put in a transfer in or close to the Houston area....I'm very happy with rehab and don't won't to have to look for another job....and does anyone work for any Healthsouth Rehab Hospitals in the Texas area? How is it?

Specializes in Case mgmt., rehab, (CRRN), LTC & psych.

I have been working at a Healthsouth Rehab Hospital in the Dallas/Fort Worth area for a little over three years. Other than the erratic census and skeleton crew staffing, it's not that bad of a place to work.

I have never been to Houston, so I cannot really tell you about the Healthsouth facilities in that area.

As far as transfers (or anything in life), nothing is guaranteed. Good luck to you!

On a good day the nurse/patient ratio will be 7:1. On an understaffed shift it will be up to 12:1. Keep in mind that I work 12 hour night shifts.

Wow....I work day shift so that sounds about right.....but 12:1 those nurses would have s fit! Lol

I work HealthSouth in FL. For 2 months now. Been an RN for 20 years in med/surg large hospital most of my career. At HealthSouth on nights we get 10-1 with admits not being unusual. As soon as I can get out of that morbid hell hole pit I will run as fast as I can. It's unsafe working like that. Would rather go back to the hospital for sure!

Agency will be called before they let 10:1 go down.....night shift at my facility 7:1
